Thai Notary Law is a Bangkok-based legal firm whose six attorneys are all registered Notarial Services Attorneys with the Lawyers Council of Thailand under the 2551 B.E. regulation. Since Thailand joined the Hague Apostille Convention (effective December 2024) we have chained Notary Public → MFA nitikorn → Apostille for outbound documents, and Notary Public → MFA → destination embassy for the remaining non-Hague states. Every notarisation we issue is signed by an attorney whose Notarial Services Attorney (NSA) licence is renewed annually with the Lawyers Council of Thailand under the 2551 B.E. Notarial Services Regulation. The registry is public — accepting authorities in the US, UK, EU and Commonwealth verify our signatures against the Council database before they release visas, mortgages or corporate filings.
For high-risk chains (immigration to Australia, USCIS I-751, UAE golden visa, PRC company registration) we default to a two-attorney sign-off: one notarising, one supervising QA — a control not required by the regulation but adopted after we tracked our own rejection data and found dual review dropped rework by 61%.
How the full chain works end-to-end
Step 1 — Notary Public: your documents are notarised in Bangkok (or via courier from any of our four branches — Bangkok, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Nong Khai). Step 2 — MFA nitikorn: our runner files at the Legalisation Division on Chaeng Wattana every working day; the morning express window turns files around in 1–2 days. Step 3a — Apostille (Hague states): a single apostille certificate is affixed and the file is destination-ready. Step 3b — Destination embassy (non-Hague): we schedule the embassy appointment, deliver the file, and collect the sealed document.
We treat the three-step chain as one engagement — one fixed quote, one case reference, one invoice — instead of the three separate service purchases most Bangkok firms sell. This is why our repeat-client rate is above 40%: predictable pricing removes the anxiety of watching a small file balloon into an open-ended bill.
Country-specific quirks we track monthly
Australia DHA insists on the original Type-2 police clearance with the MFA red ribbon still intact; a broken ribbon triggers a re-issue at ฿1,500. USCIS accepts an Apostille but the accompanying translator declaration must state "complete and accurate" verbatim. UKVI accepts colour scans in the online submission but requires the Apostille original at the visa interview. Chinese consulate requires the notary certificate in Chinese with a legalisation label — we keep three CT-1 templates on file for their three current versions.

- Does Thailand issue Apostilles now?
- Yes. Thailand acceded to the Hague Convention on 20 May 2024 and Apostille issuance at the MFA Consular Department began 22 December 2024. Files bound for Hague-member states no longer need destination embassy attestation.
- What is the total cost for a typical file?
- Personal document (birth, marriage, single-status) with Notary + MFA + Apostille runs ฿4,500 fully inclusive. Corporate files (Kor.Bor.Chor.5, financials, board resolutions) run ฿6,500–฿12,500 depending on legalisation chain.
- How long from start to certified file?
- Standard chain 7–10 business days; express Apostille 4–5 business days; same-day Notary component. Non-Hague embassy legs add 3–14 days depending on the mission.
- Can foreign documents be legalised for use in Thailand?
- Yes — inbound Apostille recognition since Dec 2024, plus we handle certified Thai translation and MFA endorsement so foreign originals are accepted by Thai courts, DBD, Immigration Bureau and Land Department.
