FAQ — Chiang Mai
- Do I have to travel to your office from Chiang Mai?
- Usually not. Translation, MFA legalization filings and dealings with Thai authorities are handled on your behalf from colour scans and couriered originals. The exception is a step the law requires you to sign in person before the certifying attorney, such as signature certification on a power of attorney, which we schedule in advance.
- Can a document issued in Chiang Mai be used abroad as it is?
- Normally no. Thailand is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so a Thai document bound abroad is translated in the format the receiving authority requires, then legalized by the Legalization Division, Department of Consular Affairs (MFA), and — where the receiving authority asks for it — certified again by that country's embassy in Bangkok.
- What should I prepare first?
- Colour scans of every page including reverse sides that carry stamps, the passport or ID page of the document holder, the name and country of the receiving authority, and your filing deadline. We plan the sequence backwards from that deadline.
- Why must names match the passport exactly?
- Receiving authorities match identity against the passport. A single differing letter in the translation can be read as a different person and the whole bundle rejected, so we lock spelling to the passport and flag mismatches before work starts.
- How much does it cost?
- We do not publish prices, because page count, language pair, certification layers and the receiving authority's requirements differ case by case. Send the document details by phone, LINE or email and we issue a per-case quote together with the step order.
- Can you guarantee acceptance?
- Acceptance is always the receiving authority's decision. What we control is checking their requirements before starting, sequencing the certification layers correctly and proofing every page of the translation against the original — which removes the rejection causes we see most often.
