Translating it yourself vs using a certified translation team

You may translate your own documents, but almost no authority will accept a translation certified by the person who benefits from it, and most Thai official documents have a fixed layout — stamps, registration numbers, issuing office — that must be reproduced in the translation. A certified team signs the accuracy statement, produces the format the MFA and embassies expect, and can carry the document through lawyer certification and legalisation. Can I translate my own documents and have a lawyer certify them?

A lawyer certifies the signature on the accuracy statement, and an applicant certifying their own supporting evidence is normally refused by the recipient. Independent certification avoids that objection.

Is machine translation acceptable?

Not for official filings. Beyond accuracy, official Thai documents carry seals, registration numbers and formatting that machine output does not reproduce correctly.
