NAATI Certified Translation vs Self-Translation

Where an authority names NAATI, a self-translation is not accepted — no matter how accurate it is, because the certification comes from an independent, verifiable practitioner. Some low-stakes cases (internal reference, an employer's HR file, a first-pass review) accept an uncertified translation. For visas, registrations and assessments, assume certification is required.
